Earlier this week, we were part of a super special wedding in Northumberland. My littlest brother got married to the love of his life and my new sister in law, Allison. A Thursday wedding, for me is always a good start – you get the whole weekend tagged on to the end of an already wonderful occasion so it really is like a mini holiday. Before I even begin on the details, the whole week was just brilliant and we are all now recovering with Sunday chills and coffee.
We arrived at Doxford Barns near Alnwick, Northumberland on Wednesday and from the very start, the staff were just incredible – they went out of their way to ensure we had the best time and experience and couldn’t do enough for us. A truly lovely team on board at a beautiful venue in a stunning setting.
My mum was the florist for the day – (Christine, Lavenders Blue – AMAZING! She’s your florist if you’re looking, honestly, you can check out her website here) so we were all on hand a couple of days prior to the wedding to help out with the prep.
The wedding ceremony itself was held in the Threshing Hall at Doxford Barns. Graeme and Allison chose to have a small, intimate ceremony which worked perfectly in the space. They booked their wedding a while ago, before I announced I was a celebrant, so they had already secured the local registrar for the ceremony. I performed a reading however and was on hand to help design and write their vows – they decided to write their own personal vows for the ceremony which were just so lovely, really unique and special. The reading I performed was: Foxtrot from a Play, WH Auden – A non-traditional reading that made everybody smile.
From the day of set up to the day we left, wedding fever was high and everyone had a completely magical time.
Now back to reality – Monday motivation will definitely be needed all round tomorrow.
